I've not heard too much this week so I can only comment on the 2 events I was actually at, the ECCA 10 on the E2 on Saturday and the Chelmer Hardriders on Sunday.

As the new season is upon us, a few Chelmer riders were eager to get on to the local fast course, the E2/10 and test how their winters had gone and gauge what they can expect over the coming year. Most of them, with the exception of the ashamed writer of this piece put in some very creditable early season performances, none more so than Richard Evans, earning 10th place with a 22.23 in only his 2nd open event, beating several very good local riders in the process. Expect big things from this man over the course of the season. Special note should also go to the Chelmer cheerleading/marshalling team of Annie and Graham at the turn, it was pretty chilly out there today but they were still full of enthusiasm when the riders went past!

Now in it's 2nd year the Jim Perrin memorial was again a success, with plenty of favourable comments from riders of other clubs about both the event and the club in general. Much of this was down to the hard work put in by our captain Antony Stapleton so a big thanks to him for once again putting on this event, and to everybody who turned out to support it.
The overall race was won by Mark 'PNut' Arnold in 59.36, improving on his 2nd place form last year and narrowly missing out on the course record despite suffering worse conditions. The Chelmer duo of Ann Shuttleworth and Corinna Francis claimed first and second places respectively in the ladies section, and the Chelmer also managed to scoop the team prize. Best Chelmer rider was Dave Nicholls with 1.05.17.
