VETERANS TIME TRIALS ASSOCIATION

EAST ANGLIAN GROUP

Affiliated to Cycling Time Trials

The VTTA is the National Authority of Time Trial records for its members of 40 years old and over.

There are 16 groups between John O'Groats and Lands End, your local group, East Anglian, covering the area between the Thames and the Wash and from Hertfordshire to the sea, mainly CTT Districts East and London East.

Five events at 10 and 25 miles are organised by the group for the 2008 season, plus four longer distance events, 30, 50, 100 & 12hrs, which are incorporated into established local time trials, there is also a 10 mile league, with the 4 best rides from 7 nominated events to count.

VTTA Age Standards

The major basis of competition in VTTA events is the age standard, this being a unique handicapping system based upon the competitor's age.

A table is published in the National handbook, which sets for each distance a standard time (or distance), for each year of age.  The rider's actual performance is then subtracted from their age standard and the result forms their 'plus' (or 'minus' in the circumstances where the standard is less than the actual performance).

For Example, if a 50 year old male did a time of 1.05.00 at 25 miles against his age standard of 1.11.07, then he would be credited with doing a 'plus' of 6 mins 7 secs.

The majority of awards in VTTA events are based upon the riders achieving the greatest plus, although there may also be awards for fastest actual time and regular handicaps.

Method of selection

If an excess of entries are received, selection will be on the basis of fastest on standard, up to the maximum number permitted by CTT regulations, but in the following priority sequence:

Your annual subscription of £10, will offer you the opportunity:

For an additional fee (£9 for 2009) you may also enter for the season long Standards Award scheme, if your plus improves every year, you will be awarded a medal at each distance (or time), if you improve at 4 or more distances you will receive a plaque.
