August triathlons
August has been a month for long distance triathlons, with Holly taking on Ironman Copenhagen and Andrew & Sandra competing in the Ironman Vichy 🇫🇷 70.3
First off it was Holly, doing her first full Ironman and a little apprehensive about bike pacing ... but she smashed it, finishing the bike 40 minutes ahead of plan and completing the full distance in 13:35:02, a full hour ahead of her coach's prediction. Pretty impressive considering she couldn’t swim 20 metres front crawl 4 years ago and didn’t own a bike!!
Next up, Andrew and Sandra went to France to compete in the Ironman Vichy 70.3, wearing their smart new GBR tri-suits. The water was warm and choppy, the ride hilly and the run very hot…. 29°. Andrew is faster on the swim and bike, but Sandra hunts him down on the run. Family bragging rights go to Andrew. He'd created enough of a lead on the swim and bike to stay ahead.
